Los Angeles, CA (October 18, 2016) – The Lucie Foundation presents the annual IPA Best of Show photography exhibition and party on Saturday, October 22, 2016, preceded by a round-table panel discussion featuring 2016 Lucie Honorees, both at Splashlight. Other events celebrating the 2016 Lucie Honorees, finalists and jurors are also scheduled throughout the weekend, by special invitation only. The Lucie Technical Awards are on Wednesday, Oct. 19 presented by Lucie Foundation and hosted by PhotoPlus Conference + Expo, at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The Lucie Awards, produced by the Lucie Foundation, a nonprofit charitable foundation, honor the achievements of the world’s most accomplished photographers, discover and cultivate emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of photography worldwide.
The 40 winning images by 35 artists, representing work from 20+ countries, from the 2016 competition were curated by Scott Thode, Director of Art & Education, Visura.co. Thode is an independent curator, editor and photographer. He has co-curated numerous exhibitions with Kathy Ryan, including at Look3 Festival of the Photograph, The School of Visual Arts and The Cortona On the Move Photo Festival; and independently, at the Photofest Queretaro in Mexico. On July 4th, 2012 Scott debuted a video piece he created for the Homecoming Project in Austin Texas. The film looked at the U.S. Military personnel at war and at home and was accompanied by a live performance by the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
As a visual editor, Scott has worked for E.O. Wilson’s Life On Earth and VII The Magazine. For years, he was the Deputy Picture Editor at Fortune Magazine. As an Editor, Scott was nominated for a Lucie Award as Photo Editor of the Year. As a photographer, Scott was the recipient of numerous photography awards and his work has been exhibited at Visa Pour L'Image in Perpignan, France, The Bienalle Internazionale di Fotografia in Turin, Italy and The Colonnade Gallery in Washington, D.C. Scott teaches at The School of Visual Arts.

Following the weekend events, The Lucie Awards gala will be held on Sunday, October 23, at 7pm, with arrivals at 6pm, at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Honorees, industry luminaries and top winners from the 2016 IPA competition will be recognized.
