Note from our Office
Dear Calumet County 4-H,
How are we already starting April?! This means the school year is almost over AND we are that much closer to Summer 2025!
Some project meetings are going to be wrapping up this month, and there are some that will be starting either this month or next. Also, to help us plan accordingly, there is a Camp Survey we'd like as many of our members and parents to complete to see where your interest lies for Day Camps and overnight camp. We also have some fun things planned for Volunteer Appreciation Week, so don't forget to check out what you can do to recognize a volunteer or for us to show you our appreciation for all you do!
As always, please feel free to reach out to our office with any questions or concerns. I can be reached on my work cell at 920-483-0646 or by email at carlea.liermann@wisc.edu.
Sincerely,
Carlea Liermann

Join us for Volunteer Appreciation Week!
Please join us during this year's Volunteer Appreciation Week. No matter if you are an adult volunteer, or one of our many youth volunteers, you are invited to join us during one of our two events, OR you could just stop by the office to pick up your appreciation gift. Please fill out this form if you plan to attend either of the events so we can plan accordingly.
Also, help fill a volunteers cup! Our volunteers, both youth and adults, work so hard to bring fun and meaningful experiences to our members and families. Share your appreciation for all they do! Here's how you can recognize your Club Leader, Project Leader or any other 4-H volunteer who has made an impact on your 4-H Experience:
1. Pick a cup design from here.
2. Color or decorate your cup however you wish.
3. Add a note sharing your thanks or something meaningful your volunteer does for you or your Club. Don't forget to include their name. Your name and club name would be helpful too!
4. Cut out your cup.
5. You can either give it to the volunteer you are recognizing, or you can bring it to our office and we would love to fill up our office door of all the amazing things our volunteers do!
6. Let your volunteer know how much you appreciate them!

Youth in Governance ProgramApplications are officially open for the next cohort of our Youth in Governance Program!
Joining the Calumet County Youth in Governance Program is a fantastic opportunity for young leaders to make a real impact in their community while gaining valuable skills for the future. This program allows youth to actively participate in local government, providing them with firsthand experience in decision-making, leadership, and civic engagement.
By serving on county committees, participants develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills while working alongside elected officials and community leaders. It’s a chance to voice their opinions on important issues, learn about local policies, and contribute to positive change.
Beyond the experience, involvement in Youth in Governance strengthens college applications, resumes, and leadership portfolios. If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to shape the future of your community, the Calumet County Youth in Governance Program is the perfect opportunity to get involved!
Email carlea.liermann@wisc.edu if you'd like an application or if you have any questions!

Please consider taking our Camp Survey!
Can you believe that is's already that time of year to start blocking your calendars off for camps this summer?
This year we are changing up our camp program, and this includes camping with new counties and a new location for Summer 2025. I know this may come as a surprise to you, and I’ll be honest that it did come as a surprise to me as well, that we are no longer camping with Outagamie County. You may be asking, how come?
In conversations with Outagamie County, we concluded that this may be a great time to evaluate our current program and make some changes to see what is best for the program in the future. As we take a step back and pause to evaluate our camp program, we have been invited to camp with Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counites for Summer of 2025.
We are asking you to take a few minutes to complete a survey to best help us plan for Summer 2025 and summers in the future. This includes what you would be interested in, and why you would or would not choose to participate in our camp offerings. The survey link can be found here: https://uwmadison.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_22ZHf0gNkmlD66i

Summer Camp 2025
For Summer 2025, we are camping with Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties. With this change, also comes a change of venue to Upham Woods. We are currently in the process of evaluating our current Camp Program, and would love for you to join us! If you would like to help us see what is best for our program for Summer 2026, please reach out to Carlea at carlea.liermann@wisc.edu. We would love parents, youth and volunteers to join us as we look at what has been going well, and how we could improve the camp opportunities we offer our members.
