COVID-19 bivalent Booster and Flu Shot Information
For Students Studying Abroad
October 4, 2022
Dear Student,
As you know, Drs. Michael Jordan and Marie Caggiano recently notified you that all students are required to get the bivalent COVID-19 booster and the seasonal flu vaccine by December 2. Our records indicate you are currently studying abroad, and we wanted to provide you with additional information about how this applies to you.
We know that not all countries have the same access to the required vaccines. Many students studying abroad are in countries where both the bivalent booster and the season flu vaccines are approved, and either are currently widely available or will be before December 2.  We encourage you to investigate local options and get both vaccines as soon as you are able. Many of you will be able to upload your proof of vaccination by the December 2 deadline. Our staff is only able to process written documentation in English; if your vaccine documentation is in another language, please upload the original as well as a certified translation.
If you are in a country where either vaccine is not available to you, the deadline will be extended to January 13, 2023. This will allow you to get your vaccinations and upload proof immediately upon your return to the US.
As Dr. Jordan shared last week at the University-wide town hall, current indications are that respiratory infections—including COVID-19 and the seasonal flu—will be prevalent this winter. We encourage you to closely monitor health conditions where you are and follow location-specific public health guidance.
Please contact covidvaccine@tufts.edu if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Tufts Student Services
