The StAAR Center offers graduate-specific programming, including one-on-one writing support and academic coaching, as well as graduate workshops and groups. Sign up for appointments, workshops, and groups on Tutor Finder!
Graduate Writing Consultants can meet with you at any stage in your process, and you can meet with the same consultant over time so they can get to know your writing goals. We are available to meet with you on any academic project, including:
- Papers for class
- Personal statements
- Dissertation, thesis, or capstone
Academic Coaches are available to work with you on a variety of academic skills, including:
- Time management and project planning
- Reading and note-taking strategies
- Test-taking and reducing test anxiety
- Work/life balance
- Mindfulness

Guided Writing Practice for Multilingual Graduate Students
Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Low-stress writing practice designed to build confidence, develop your writing process, try out new strategies, and prepare for longer writing projects.
English Conversation Circles
Tuesdays, 12:00 p.m.– 1:00 p.m.; Thursdays, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Meet other graduate students and have lively conversation in a low-stress, environment intended to increase fluency and confidence in spoken English.
