Welcome Weekend August 2024
Versión para familias en español
Dear newest families of Notre Dame,

We are excited to soon welcome you and your family to campus! As you may remember, Welcome Weekend seeks to share the unique characteristics of our Catholic, Holy Cross undergraduate educational experience by introducing and inspiring engagement in academic, residential, and co-curricular student life, demonstrating our commitment to a safe and inclusive environment of teaching and learning, and facilitating the exploration of University resources available to you and your family. At Notre Dame, we believe education takes place in the context of genuine and meaningful communion with others.

Welcome Weekend Schedule

Welcome Weekend will take place for incoming first-year students and their guests Friday, August 23, 2024  - Monday, August 26, 2024 and for incoming transfer students and their guests Thursday, August 22 - Monday, August 26. Parent and family programming is scheduled to conclude in the evening on Saturday, August 24.
We encourage you and your family to review the updated details and descriptions of Welcome Weekend events. These will help you identify the various opportunities and requirements for students and families in anticipation of your arrival. We hope you continue to visit the Welcome Weekend site for helpful resources.

Accessibility and Support

Notre Dame is committed to providing full access to all Welcome Weekend programs and services. If you anticipate that you or a family member may require accommodations for a disability (visible or invisible) to fully participate, please contact the Welcome Weekend Team at welcome@nd.edu with as much advance notice as possible.
In addition, the Office of Student Enrichment aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment so that every new generation of students finds a home and flourishes at Notre Dame. This office offers programming and resources to students with limited income in order to help them adjust to their college environment, including move-in expenses, parent/guardian travel for Welcome Weekend, Notre Dame football tickets, winter clothing, laptops/laptop repair, and more. Student eligibility is determined by the Office of Financial Aid. More information can be found at studentenrichment.nd.edu.

Summer Communication

As fall semester registration draws nearer, incoming first-year students will continue to receive registration guidance from First Year Advising. A collection of previous communications sent to incoming first-year students from First Year Advising may be found here. Students may also engage with helpful content on the First Year Advising Instagram.
On June 28, incoming first-year students who applied for housing before June 3 can anticipate receiving notice of their residence hall assignment from the Office of Residential Life. Transfer students can anticipate a similar communication on July 26.
Throughout the summer, students will continue to receive information and invitations about all kinds of academic and cocurricular engagement opportunities at Notre Dame. For incoming first-year students, one of these opportunities will be an invitation to register for a required component of Welcome Weekend, the First Lecture Series. Registration for the First Lecture Series opens on July 24. Since all communications will be sent to students' Notre Dame Gmail account, it is important that they check their email daily.

Pre-Arrival Preparation

All incoming students should regularly consult and follow the directions listed on the Welcome Weekend Pre-Arrival webpage to best prepare for arrival on campus. Tasks and resources are organized for incoming first-year students and incoming transfer students.

Course Registration

The Center for University Advising’s comprehensive First-Year Student Summer 2024 Timeline outlines concrete dates and timetables all incoming first-year students must take in preparation for course registration in late July. The next item on this timeline is Academic Advising Q&A Sessions, which occur June 18 - 20.
Incoming transfer students can expect to hear from college advising offices in preparation for course registration in early July.

You and your families remain close to our hearts and we eagerly count the days until we welcome you home to Notre Dame.

Sincerely,

Emily Orsini
