Dear Student Affairs Team Members,
Happy October! I hope you all are enjoying the changing weather, the iconic trees on campus, conversations with students, and the many programs currently underway for our campus community. I love this time of the semester as we head into the Fall Break period and continue providing a wonderful experience for our students and families.
October 7-10 is Fall Break for WashU students. Some of our students will travel during this time, but many will remain on campus. The university remains open during regular hours on Monday and Tuesday to serve the many students who are on campus during the break.
This eNewsletter outlines key Divisional dates for the remainder of the semester, including Parent & Family Weekend, Divisional monthly meetings, and our Winter Warm Up celebration. Please make sure these are added to your calendars and shared with new staff members in your areas.
Our next time together as a full Division is next Wednesday, October 11, for our Divisional meeting. Light refreshments begin in Risa Commons at 8 a.m. with our formal meeting running from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Finally, please make note of the staff kudos section below. This is a great opportunity to highlight those in our Division who devote their time to serve and volunteer in organizations dedicated to the Student Affairs profession. Recently, Rob Wild, associate vice chancellor, dean of students & chief of staff, received the 2023 Dean’s Partnership Award, presented annually by Arts & Sciences to a university leader who has served as an invaluable partner and colleague. Congratulations, Rob!
Warmly,
|

Parent & Family Weekend is October 27-29! The weekend is a time for families and students to re-connect, learn more about WashU, and explore the St. Louis area. Approximately 2,500 family members are expected to participate in more than 70 events planned over three days. The success of the event relies on the support of staff within the Division of Student Affairs. In particular, assistance is needed to welcome families at registration, distribute event tickets, and at the tailgate prior to the 1 p.m. football game against Elmhurst. Individuals who assist at the tailgate are welcome to enjoy Pappy’s Smokehouse following their shift. Questions can be directed to Mimi Mudd.

New this year, students whose families are unable to attend Parent & Family Weekend are invited to join faculty, staff and fellow students for a Bears Family Dinner at the City Foundry STL. Please share this link with students in your area and encourage them to register.
