Dear Students,
We recognize that the safety alerts during the past few days of final exams have been challenging and disruptive to students, faculty, and staff alike. We know these interruptions have also been very stressful to many of you and your parents and families.
The advising deans have shared some guidance and suggestions with faculty on how to handle the recent disruptions to final exams.
Instructors have wide latitude in how to handle their courses and their exams. Decisions about extensions, cancellations, make-ups, and grading will be made by the instructor on a course-by-course basis.
The deans have asked the faculty to be as flexible as possible as they make their decisions for how to complete final evaluations. Specifically, to strive to be fair to the entire class but also to factor in individual needs for flexibility. SMFA review boards will take place as scheduled.
In the meantime, campus operations will continue as planned until the end of the semester. If you live in campus housing, you may stay until your planned departure date or noon on Friday, December 23, whichever comes first. If you were approved for winter break housing, nothing has changed.
