World Autism Day Event at PDX
In support of Autism Acceptance Month and World Autism Day, the Port of Portland and several PDX Accessibility Advisory Committee members – including the Autism Society of Oregon, KultureCity, and ARC of Oregon – are hosting an event at PDX on Wednesday, April 2, designed to draw attention to tools and resources available to support the autism community.
Attendees have the opportunity to learn about the participating organizations and the tools they provide to travelers. Additionally, those interested in touring the airport's post-security amenities can register ahead of time to obtain a gate pass for access. Please share the registration link with friends and family who might be interested in this chance to check out the airport, visit our sensory room, and learn how we create a safe and welcoming experience for neurodivergent travelers.

MAX Red Line Platform Detour Starts This Weekend
Starting Saturday, April 5, through Sunday, April 20, MAX Red Line riders will be redirected around construction at PDX. The detour will get travelers safely around work on the permanent exit routes, which will bring more direct, efficient paths – with more escalators – to the PDX MAX station and arrivals level in 2026. During this construction period, TriMet will not run trains on the inbound track. Instead, a temporary platform extending over the track will allow riders to travel between the station and the baggage claim area. All MAX trains will arrive on and depart from what is normally the outbound track.
While there will be no major impacts to service, we encourage riders to plan ahead and be prepared to follow signs leading them to and from the station. Hop Card vending machines will remain accessible during the project for riders who need them.

Two Artists Chosen to Create Large-Scale, 2D Public Artworks for PDX
The unique works will be located on walls along the north and south exit routes for travelers, where greeters wait after security, with each spanning over 50-feet long. White Hawk's symmetrical glass and natural stone mosaic draws on the materiality of beading and weaving traditions to realize an abstracted view of the majestic silhouette of Mt. Hood. Newby's mural evokes Oregon's forested landscape through a richly textured surface of glazed ceramic tiles, conjuring up a distinct color palette drawn from the state's diverse vegetation.
"We are honored to have work from Kate and Dyani as part of the airport's permanent collection, which aims to celebrate everyone's life experiences, voices, and cultures," PDX Art Program Manager Wendy Given shared. "The proposals from each artist retain their unique voices, are strongly tied to the Pacific Northwest region and our community, and will further enrich PDX's forest-inspired design."
