Remembering Bruce Ian Meader

We at the Vignelli Center are still mourning the loss of our friend and colleage Bruce Ian Meader. Meader passed away on January 14, 2024, in his home in Abbott, TX at the age of 68. 

Meader was a professor in the RIT Department of Graphic Design for 26 years until his retirement as Professor Emeritus in 2019. He was a longtime friend and supporter of the Vignelli Center. Meader was a beloved teacher to his many students, being characterized by them as amazing, generous, mentor, friend, and a lover of fine typography in graphic design.

A memorial event will be held at the Rochester Institute for Technology's University Gallery on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 5 PM, with remarks from R. Roger Remington, Josh Owen, Dr. Todd Jokl, and Pastor Jared R. Stahler.

Please share your thoughts about Bruce as a designer, educator, mentor, and respected colleague. Your tributes will be included in the memorial event held in University Gallery on September 16, 2024.
