Our university community has been deeply saddened and concerned by a tragic incident that occurred May 13 at the Rouge River on the property of the Henry Ford Estate. Two UM-Dearborn College of Engineering and Computer Science graduate students were seen in distress in the river. Police quickly responded and a female student was found on the banks of the river. She was transported to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. The second student, a male, was swept away by the rapid currents of the river and, at this time, has not been recovered.
