School Uplift Makes the Grade
|
Over 60 schools have now participated in TVA's new School Uplift program - and we loved joining hands with our local power company partners to celebrate their success at events across the Valley this spring where we announced the winners of Building Energy Upgrade Grants and Learning Environment Grants.
|
| |
|
The School Uplift program team has listened to feedback from teachers and students and is excited to announce that going forward all schools that complete the 12-month program will be eligible to receive a minimum $10,000 Learning Environment Grant. These grants can be used to fund projects in areas like Health and Wellness, STEAM and Sustainability.
We're excited to see what the nearly 100 schools participating in the 2022/2023 cohort are able to achieve!

Fast Charge Network Updates
|
-
Congratulations to Fort Payne Improvement Authority and Warren RECC on being the first two local power companies to install EV fast chargers through TVA's Fast Charge Network program. TVA is partnering with local power companies across the Valley to place public fast chargers at least every 50 miles along interstates and major highways across the seven-state region.
-
TVA’s Fast Charge Network recently added a “second tier” of reimbursement to the program. The new tier will still reimburse 80% of eligible costs while also increasing the reimbursement cap to $250,000 per 150+kW charger installed.

Heat Wave: Ready for the Peaks
|
What a month! As you all know, the Tennessee Valley has faced historic heat this summer with over 30,000 MW of demand on multiple days. Days like this, when loads and prices for power are high, are why we say TVA EnergyRight's Demand Response (DR) programs are "ready for the peaks."
Our partnership with local power companies and end-use customers was on full display as the DR team called on all available programs to reduce the peaks by some 850 MW on multiple days. These DR events lowered TVA's costs while simultaneously lowering DR participants' power bills. Not only were the MWs significant, but the performance was also high, routinely exceeding 100%.
Thank you to local power companies and DR participants for rising to meet the challenge. We will continue to work together to make these programs available while seeking new ways to meet system and customer needs.
