Every weekend morning I get together to run with Dina, Jessica, and LT. Five months ago, Jessica signed up to run the Vancouver Marathon. It would be Jessica's first marathon ever. That lit the fire for the rest of us and we all signed up too. On the weekend of May 1, we headed north across the border and on Sunday we all ran 26.2 miles. You would not think running a marathon would be fun, but it strangely is. The bibs have your name on them so the crowds lining the street call out your name and say things like, "Go Jennie, you got this." Lots of people are running around you and they are getting cheered for too. So much nice cheering and your heart is beat beat beating and you are moving fast. How often do people quite literally cheer for you?
I am skipping over the bad part of a marathon though. The last 6.2 miles. The last 6.2 miles are so difficult that they are not fun. Despite this lack of fun at the end, we all finished. Jessica was so happy to have finished she almost cried and is already signed up for another marathon.
