Shout-Outs – Please help us continue to inspire and uplift the RPS community by submitting shout-outs to shoutouts@rvaschools.net. Entries can be submitted in Spanish or English!
- I want to give a shout-out to Mr. Jenkins and Ms. Johnson of MLK Preschool. I was so scared of sending my daughter to school and they make her feel so welcome. They are truly the best teachers any child can ask for! I will always support them & their class. Thank you so much for all you do.
- I want to give a special shout-out to Ms. Nicole Fleming, an exemplar of thoughtfulness and professionalism within public schools. Ms. Fleming consistently reminds administrators about the importance of self-care during the hustle and bustle of the day and the stressful period as schools gear up for SOL success. Her dedication and willingness to support school administrators in any way possible highlight her as a remarkably hard worker.
- Here's to Principal Director Waller for going above and beyond to ensure that every staff member, student, and family feels supported and empowered. Thank you, PD Waller, for your inspirational leadership, your compassionate heart, and your unwavering pursuit of what's best for our students.
- Sending a huge shout-out to Nathiel Potter. Every time he comes to Bellevue Elementary we learn something new to use with our teachers to support our students.
- I am writing to express my deepest appreciation to Ms. Fay, my child's 1st grade teacher at Cardinal Elementary School. As a parent, I am truly grateful for her dedication and commitment to my child. Ms. Fay goes above and beyond to ensure that my son is and feels supported. She keeps me informed and involved, every step of the way. Her dedication, support, and effective communication have made it easy for me to work knowing my child is in great hands. Keep up the great work, Ms. Fay...you rock!
- I wanted to wish Ms. Facison and Ms. Jenkins a very happy Administrative Professionals Week! Ms. Facison and Ms. Jenkins work tirelessly to support the the exceptional education department and we could not function without them. They lead with kindness, patience, empathy, and attention to detail all along the way. We are so grateful to have them! Thank you, Ms. Facison and Ms. Jenkins, for all you do!
- Happy Youth Music and Art Month to Vanessa DeYoung and Courtney Cunningham at Miles Jones ES! We love and appreciate you! Every art show, project, concert, performance… all of it! You guys pour your heart and soul into your work and it doesn’t go unnoticed. We celebrate you ladies.
- What a wonderful Career Week from our Oak Grove School Counselors, Mrs. Jenkins and Mrs. Fiason. Students were truly amazed by the presenters that took their time to share about their career – from a coach, news anchor, restaurant owner, and much more. This was a very productive week and we appreciate your hard work ensuring a variety of professional careers. We can't wait until next year. Thank you!
- I would love to give a huge shout-out to Ms. Tina Garrison and the entire Payroll department. You all work very hard and promptly – it amazes me. I want you all to know that you are truly appreciated!
- I want to give a shout-out to everyone in the School Nutrition Services department for all of their work, flexibility, and love as we served students fresh fruit and vegetable samples during Fruit & Veggie Week. Volunteers and staff were welcomed into the kitchen every morning with a smile by the SNS staff – we could not have done this event without you all! Special shout-out to Shannon Ebron and Renesha Parks for your partnership and dedication to making FVW a success! I would also like to lift up the amazing and artistic food-carving skills of Ms. Barbara Briggs, the cafeteria manager at Redd Elementary, who created a fruit & veggie display for each day of Fruit & Veggie Week, encouraging her kids to taste the rainbow! Finally, thank you to the participating schools and principals who opened up your doors and kitchens to FVW volunteers – you all brocc!

This year we collected a record breaking 823 pounds of PB&J that will help FeedMore feed the nearly 200,000 Virginians who struggle with hunger. The generosity and kindness for others is astounding and the teddy bears continue to be a role model for others! Way to go!
