Member of the MonthMike Brouse
Cheers to our February Member of the Month, Mike! A member since 2009, Mike comes in 5-6 days a week, swimming every other day and using the treadmills or ellipticals on the other days. “Active is the best club in Petaluma! So many great things to name. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating.” he says.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Mike moved to Petaluma in 1986. “My bride is from Petaluma and my two adult children live close by. Being a grandfather twice over is a blessing, however it reminds me that I am getting really old! We have a Goldendoodle named Remy,” he adds.
A few years ago, Mike decided he was going to compete in a Triathlon before he turned 60. He let Fitness Director, Eli, along with a few others at the club know and together, they figured out a plan to get him ready. “They asked me if I would be interested in joining the Active Team at an upcoming Spartan race called Stadia. The race was held at beautiful Oracle Park in San Francisco. I had never participated in a Spartan race and thought it would be a good way to get my feet wet in these types of races.” Mike got through it and even participated in his 2nd Spartan race later in the year!
For over 23 years, Mike has been helping Sonoma, Marin, and Napa County families with their mortgage needs. Presently, he is working as a Reverse Mortgage Specialist at Rate. He also created a business called NorCal Reverse many years ago.
Way to go, Mike! We’re so happy to celebrate you as one of our awesome members!![]() ![]()

Employee of the MonthVanessa Hall
Congratulations, Vanessa, our February Employee of the Month! Vanessa has been a valuable team member in Active Kids for over seven years now. She is reliable and always there to greet you with a smile.
Originally from Orange County, Vanessa moved to Sonoma County for college back in 2002 and never left. Working at the club, she loves watching the kids grow and light up when they come in. She also enjoys helping out the other parents so they can have a little bit of time for themselves.
Outside of the club, Vanessa loves to be outside, hiking and being on her ranch. She also has two kids of her own that keep her plenty busy. We’re so glad to have Vanessa on our team!
