2025 Summer Reading

The 2025 SHU Reads! Selection is The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer. As an Indigenous scientist and author of Braiding Sweetgrass, Robin Wall Kimmerer harvests serviceberries alongside the birds, considering the ethic of reciprocity that lies at the heart of the gift economy. How, she asks, can we learn from wisdom and the plant world to reimagine what we value most?

All summer, South Orange hosts Downtown After Sundown - South Orange Downtown Live Music Series from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in Spiotta Park, South Orange, on select Saturdays, including June 7 through August 30.

June 4 begins the South Orange Downtown Farmers Market from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Sloan St Parking Lot - South Orange every Wednesday from June 4 - October 29.
