Timely and Important Faculty Survey News
Please join the UCF Foundation as they celebrate student scholarship recipients for their success and achievements and honor the donors who made it possible.
The Faculty Senate is re-running a reduced set of questions from the Return to Campus Survey, looking now at Spring instruction. They would like to know how faculty opinions and circumstances have changed, now that faculty has experience teaching under COVID.
By filling out this new survey, you play a critical role in helping plan how UCF will continue to stay safe in the coming spring semester. They realize that many decisions have already been made related to how UCF will function during the next semester(s), but many other decisions will be forthcoming in which faculty can continue to provide a voice. The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Click here to access it.
The survey will close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

Request for Canned Goods and Toys for Children in the Parramore Community
United to Promote Cultural Awareness (UPCA), a newly formed committee on the downtown campus, invites all employees to donate nonperishable food items for Parramore residents and toys for OCPS ACE students. Free CE Opportunity! Thriving Versus Surviving: Building Resilience in Turbulent Times
Stressed during uncertain times? If you, your staff, or your colleagues are feeling particularly spent, it is probably because the level of emotional exhaustion in health care workers was already at an all-time-high before COVID-19, with one out of three people already meeting the criteria for burnout. In this enlightening and entertaining module, we will provide some perspective, hope, and simple strategies to try during tense times.
Learning Objectives:
- To succinctly identify and explain how increases in stress at the societal and nursing unit levels impact care quality and self-care in general. Measure unit level norms that enhance vs. hinder work-life balance
- To recognize the factors that contribute to burnout, understand the psychology behind how it develops, and the theory behind evidence-based approaches to reduce it
- To practice the evidence-based skills, strategies, and positive psychology tools provided in resilience webinars

UV Lighting installation on Air Handling Units at NSCM
NSCM has received notice that UCF Utilities and Energy Services (UES) will begin installing UV lighting on all of the air handling units at Nicholson School of Communication and Media. This work will begin in the next few days.
Some of the air handling units will need to be down for a short period of time during the installation and UES will be monitoring temperatures, to ensure the spaces don’t get too warm. If you encounter any temperature issues, please report by submitting a work order, as these will be monitored closely for the building as well.
