NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rising indie country recording artist Lauren Rismiller (Tennessee Rolling Hill Records) celebrates the release of her new single, "Heart Broke In A Bar,"* the first in her 2026 Waterfall series of recordings, which is AVAILABLE NOW.
Penned by the talented Ohio-based songstress and recorded in Nashville under the direction of producer Jesse Savio and vocal engineer Adam Yust, the coming of age, heartbreak anthem is a solo pour of regret portrayed from a lonely bar stool under neon lights.
I don’t mess around with no country boy
Telling lies, making all the noise
I don’t mess around with your devil smile
The way you did me wrong, all the while
I’m heart broke in a bar
Nowhere to be except where you are
I’m sittin’ pretty on a barstool, been here since noon, ain’t that the ugly truth
You left me heart broke in a bar
Thinkin’ about you
Drawing inspiration from '90s "Women of Country" hitmakers, the instrumentation blends neo-traditional elements — mournful pedal steel and twangy electric guitar solos — with a steady acoustic rhythm. The hallmark foundation and honky tonk aesthetics frame Rismiller’s velvety-smooth, drawling vocals. Her modern soulful delivery punches the down-and-out ruminations of the chorus line, and the upbeat tempo contrasts the forlorn sentiment.
A personal manifesto against nostalgia and a prequel to her November 2025 release, "I Miss Johnny," the melancholy storyline is a personal pledge to swear off remnants of her past and anyone with "his" likeness — no do-overs, no sequels, no "repeat plays," no "play it again, Sam."
"Playing bars in my hometown, I see lots of couples singing and dancing together, and other ’singles’ seemingly heartbroken," Rismiller said. "The song ties together that observation and that 'single,' sitting in the bar all alone, contemplating the decision to use care not to make the same mistake twice — if you see ’trouble’ comin', don’t mess around with him!”
This release marks the 20-year-old's third studio recording. She released "I Miss Johnny," the prequel to "Heart Broke In A Bar," and her Holiday two-pack EP, titled MISTLETOE WON'T, in December 2025.
