My name is Frances Ubogu and I'm a junior majoring in biology with minors in Compassionate Care in Medicine and Health, Humanities & Society -- my on-campus home is Johnson Family Hall, but I live in Lagos, Nigeria with my parents, older sister and two younger brothers. After I graduate in 2025, I hope to attend medical school and train to become an OB-GYN! Throughout my years here at ND, Galvin has been crucial in helping me feel a sense of belonging and build my home away from home; watching how our community has continued to grow stronger since my class first arrived has been such a fulfilling and rewarding experience. Through Galvin, I've been able to make some of my closest friends (who also double as amazing study partners), gain large amounts of leadership and tutoring experience, as well as excel in my classes due to the resources available to us. The community is so special to me and I'm thankful to be a part of it and for each and every one of you that make it up!
This semester, we've already had a few successful events, and I'm really looking forward to what we have upcoming! As a result, I want to invite you all to these events, as they provide an opportunity for you (especially first-years) to meet other people in the program and socialize with your peers who may have similar experiences as you. I'm really looking forward to hopefully seeing you all this semester, and I'm even more excited for what we have planned for the school year!

We had 15 freshmen and sophomores come and interact with us on varying topics including Academics, Internships/Networking, Galvin Scholars, Social/ Personal Life as dictated by the attached slides. We were very raw and unfiltered, giving a really informal discussion between the classes, which was the goal for the event. Frances Ubogu was our moderator, navigating the questions that were sent ahead of time in the RSVP as well as fielding questions from the audience. We ran the full time from 4 to 6 pm. Thank you to our speakers, moderator, event coordinator, and all the students who attended for making this such a success!
