Matt Harris, assistant professor of economics, along with UT economists Larry Kessler, Matt Murray, and Beth Glenn, investigated the effects of opioid use on labor markets. They found that a significant share of the reduction in labor force participation rates since 2000 can be attributed to opioid use.

Webinar on Mentoring Graduate Students

Graduate and professional students make critical contributions to our campus. We can help support their success, but the skills needed to be a good mentor are not universal and the distinctions between “advising” and “mentoring” are not always clearly recognized. Super-resolution Microscopy
The Advanced Microscopy and Imaging Center, a UT core facility, has upgraded its Leica SP8 Confocal Microscope to super-resolution capabilities. Users are now able to use their standard samples without any special processing or fixation to obtain resolutions down to 120 nm. For more information email microscopy@utk.edu.

The Office of Undergraduate Research funds a summer internship program to promote research and creative activity for undergraduate students. All current full-time undergraduate students enrolled on the Knoxville campus are eligible to apply.
