| Greetings from the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship
Student Scholars Day is a student and faculty-run event. In order to have a successful and meaningful Student Scholars Day, more than 100 volunteers are needed to make it happen. Similar to a conference, it is a day that celebrates student research and creative endeavors. Throughout the day, poster presentations, oral presentations, creative displays, and dance performances will showcase the many forms of scholarship that students have done over the course of the year. Please consider volunteering for one or more two-hour time blocks.

Q: What are the best storage options for the data I’m collecting on my IRB protocol, and how can I safely share it with my collaborators?
A: The level of data protection required will depend upon the type of information being collected and stored. Please consult IRB Guidance Document G-16: Guidance on Data Management Requirements for Research Data for further information. Note that sensitive information and information subject to additional protections (such as HIPAA or FERPA) requires a higher level of protection, and transferring such data to 3rd party apps/software requires GVSU IT review if the items are not already on IT’s approved list. For surveys, researchers are strongly encouraged to use the GVSU-licensed Qualtrics platform.

This is a handy guide, and we also recommend you reach out to your Grants and Contracts Specialist who will help you start and finalize your budget.

| Tips from your Office of Sponsored Programs
If you've recently received a grant or finalized a contract, you might be wondering how to get your project started. We have a new resource on our website to help you with what's known in the sponsored programs world as post-award. It explains your roles and responsibilities as a Principal Investigator, what you can expect from OSP and Grants Accounting as we process the incoming award, and refers you to departments across the university to help you set up hiring, IT needs, purchasing supplies, human subjects review, etc.
