Explore, Engage, Experience

While snow may be in the forecast and May seems far away, now is the time for students to start thinking about what they are going to do this summer. Encourage your student to take advantage of the plethora of career programs offered by the Career Center and its partners across campus in order to explore, engage, and experience future opportunities. Avoiding the Winter Blues

For many students, the winter months can feel like a challenge to get through. Experiencing the "winter blues," or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), is very common and can affect people of all ages. Megan Cohara, the UP Wellness Education & Prevention Program Coordinator, explains several steps students can take to keep their mood and motivation steady throughout the year.

Registration for Fall Semester

Believe it or not, students have been back in school for a little over a month now. Since it’s almost time for students to start registering for classes for the fall semester, now is a perfect time to check in with them! To prepare for those conversations, learn more about class registration at UP and how you can best support your student through the process.

Parents - You're Invited!

UP is going on the road this spring! University President Fr. Mark L. Poorman, C.S.C., and other University faculty and staff will be heading to the Bay Area, Los Angeles, the Twin Cities, and Chicago over the coming months to share important updates and meet with alumni and families in those areas. This will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow UP parents and other Pilot community members. Please join us at one of these upcoming events!

Send Some Love

The dark winter days can sometimes bring feelings of homesickness for our students, so now is the perfect time to “send some love” from home. Whether you carefully craft your own note of encouragement or take advantage of one of our on-campus services, your student will appreciate the gesture and will be happy to know you are thinking of them. Don’t forget to place your order for finals week Survival Kits as well!

Thank you Junior Parents and Families!

We loved hosting over 800 juniors and their families on campus this past weekend for Junior Parents and Families Weekend. This special event provided an opportunity for juniors, parents, and family members to spend time together reconnecting, learning, exploring, and experiencing UP at its best. Junior families, please let us know about your event experience by completing our feedback survey.

What We're Reading

It’s not uncommon for parents of college students to get “urgent” phone calls and texts from their student at all hours of the day. What is the real meaning behind this, and how can you give your student the confidence to problem-solve on their own? With the help of some child psychology experts, Forbes shares some insight into how to prepare for and coach your student through these situations.
