From the Office of the Dean |

Welcome to our second CHDCM newsletter! I hope that the official start of fall finds you all well, and enjoying your favorite parts of the season (for me, the return of the NFL and crisp mornings!). And to all of you who are observing Yom Kippur, I wish you an easy fast.
I’m also excited to celebrate with you as our College gets its official launch. Though we’ve already enjoyed our on-campus celebration, this time we’ve gone public! I’ve enjoyed getting to meet more and more people over the last month, and am looking forward to moving forward in our unification—and to what we’ll be able to dream up as we come together across our four departments!
Read on to learn about some of the wonderful, talented people of our College, and feel free to reach out to them and add your own congratulations to ours. Please keep your good news and event notes coming, and I look forward to continuing to meet more and more of you as we get further into fall…

Student Organization Highlight |
Counseling Psychology Student Association (CPSA)
This week's student organization highlight is the Counseling Psychology Student Association! It is an association for Counseling Psychology Ph.D. students within Seton Hall. Each month, they have meetings focused on professional development topics and invite program alumni to speak about their experiences and share insight about their careers, advice for current students, and upcoming graduates, etc.
This year, CPSA hopes to partner with other organizations to increase mental health awareness, increase visibility of important issues on campus, and foster connections across student organizations.

Ethan Wojciechowski, a graduate student in the Museum Professions program, shared his experience about his internship this past summer at the Montclair History Center. Wojciechowski worked as a general staff intern. "I decided to pursue an internship with the Montclair History Center because I wanted to understand what it meant to work at a place concerned with the preservation and telling of history."
Wojciechowski reflected that his time there taught him what it truly takes and means to be a museum professional: "I had an opportunity to shadow and learn from the director Angelica Diggs, Erin Benz, curator and head of collections, and Natalie Fontana, social media manager. I learned that at smaller institutions you need to be able to adapt to situations outside your area of expertise, and need to be willing to take on more work than you would expect."
