We hope this message finds you well. We cannot believe you will all be here next week! You can now find the Orientation 2024 schedule as well as a schedule of the Student Bar Association-sponsored events on our website. In addition, we would like to share some additional information. 

(NEW) Laptop Computer Requirements
All students are expected to have a laptop computer that meets the specifications for Exam4, the exam software used to administer exams. For questions about this, please contact LawIT@law.gwu.edu.

Provide Any Dietary Restrictions (Due: August 8)
Meals will be provided at various times during orientation. If you have any dietary restrictions, please complete our Dietary Restriction form by Thursday, August 8th to ensure your dietary restrictions can be accommodated. 

Financial Aid’s Cost-of-Attendance '202' Presentation (August 14)
The final session for the GW Law Student Living: Cost-of-Attendance '202' presentation will be in-person on August 14th at 1:30pm in the Faculty Conference Center (FCC). If you are using financial aid, including federal student loans, for living expenses, and were not able to attend one of the eight virtual sessions, please plan to attend the final session if you will be in the DMV area. In this session, the GW Law Financial Aid Staff will present on living within the cost-of-attendance (COA) while attending law school. In this session, the COA components will be discussed in detail as well as helpful budgeting tools.

(NEW) Required Reading for Mock Class
A professor will lead a "mock class" during orientation next week in order to help you understand the classroom environment and how to prepare for class. Please be sure to have read your respective case - specified by Inn - below prior to the session.

We wanted to share some last minute housing resources in case you are still apartment hunting, or have yet to sign a lease.
  • Check out the GW Law Housing Guide, a custom made resource from our trusted housing partner VeryApt, which contains valuable resources that can help guide your housing search.
  • Login to our new Roommate Portal, where prospective and current students have been connecting with each other.
  • UniversityHaus is a local property management company that has shared current availability at their Dupont property. You can complete their interest form, and additional information below:
    • Expedited Approval for International Students: UniversityHaus offers expedited housing approval for international students with the necessary documentation.
    • Financial Aid Utilization: UniversityHaus has programs that allow students to use their financial aid to cover housing costs.
    • Rent Deferment Options: UniversityHaus provides a two-week rent deferment for students waiting on scholarships or financial aid disbursements.
    • All-Inclusive Rent: Rent includes furnishings, WiFi, and utilities.
    • Convenient Location: The housing is within walking distance of the campus and located in the highly desirable Dupont Circle neighborhood.
    • Student-Only Units: UniversityHaus offers units and roommates exclusively for students.

Student Bar Association (SBA) First Year Team & Optional Orientation Activities
Each year the SBA has a team of upperclass students – the First Year SBA Team – working all summer to help welcome you to the law school. They are working to ensure you are connected by maintaining the 1L Facebook group and GroupMe to stay up-to-date with announcements & events while getting to know your future classmates.
