The StAAR Center has great academic success and writing workshops this week! Join us for "Writing a Personal Statement" on Monday, January 29, at 12 noon–1 p.m. in the Dowling Hall Milmore Room and "Managing Your Stress by Managing Your Time" on Tuesday, January 30, at 3:30–4:30 p.m. in Dowling Hall Room 745A. Also, back this week is "Senior Writers Accountability Group Write-In" at 10 a.m.–1 p.m. in Tisch Library Room 223.

Hate and Free Speech (Dialogue and Action in an Age of Divides) |
All students are invited to watch a panel series on Hate and Free Speech on Monday, January 29, at 4:30–7:30 p.m. in Alumnae Lounge. The moderator and four panelists will discuss the significance of free speech and its limitations in the context of controversies over the ways in which speech can relate to antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other identity-based racisms. Tufts at the Energy Transition |
Environmental Studies is hosting Tufts' very own Chief Sustainability Officer, Dano Weisbord, A01, on Thursday, February 1, at 12 noon–1 p.m. as part of the Hoch Cunningham Environmental Lecture Series, co-sponsored by the Office of Sustainability. He works with senior leadership to further Tufts' commitment to be a higher education leader in sustainability. His talk will discuss Tufts University's need to transition away from using fossil fuels and ways we can support change in institutions and society.

The Biotech and Life Sciences Career Fair (taking place virtually via Handshake on Thursday, February 1, at 1–4 p.m.) is your gateway to connect, network, and gain valuable insight from representatives from the biotech, health, and science industries. This event, a collaboration among Brandeis, Tufts, and BU, is an opportunity to learn about current internships and full-time roles.

Exhibition Reception at SMFA at Tufts |
Celebrate Tufts University Art Galleries' spring 2024 exhibitions at the SMFA Boston campus during a reception with food and drink on Thursday, February 1, at 6–8 p.m. On view beginning January 24, "Christian Walker: The Profane and the Poignant" surveys the work of artist, critic, and curator Christian Walker (1953–2003), and "As the World Burns: Queer Photography and Nightlife in Boston" explores the relationship among community photographic practices, queer nightlife, and gay liberation in Boston.

| Christian Walker's Photographic Legacy: A Panel with Dr. Deborah Willis |
Join Tufts University Art Galleries (TUAG) at SMFA at Tufts on Friday, February 2, at 12 noon–1:30pm for a panel on Christian Walker featuring Dr. Deborah Willis. The discussion will focus on Walker's innovations in documentary and experimental photographic practices in Boston and Atlanta artistic circles, in addition to his activism and criticism addressing topics including queer public sex, interracial desire, and HIV/AIDS, censorship, drug use, and Blackness and whiteness in the visual field.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Tufts Civic Engagement Ambassador Program provides opportunities for students to learn and practice civic engagement outside the classroom and implement it into the campus culture. This program is designed for all students who are eager to make a change on Tufts campus through events, resources, and the creation of opportunities for civic engagement! No background experience in civic engagement is required. Learn more and apply by January 31 at 11:59 p.m.
