Prepare for the 2022–2023 Snow Season
Here are some reminders ahead of the first snowfall:
- In Medford and Somerville, snow emergency parking is on the even side of the street all winter this season unless posted signage says differently or your street has an exemption or has been designated an emergency artery.
- Sign up and update your information for Medford city alerts or Somerville city alerts or by calling 311 (for Somerville).
- Flashing blue lights at major intersections indicate a snow emergency.
- Snow emergencies are announced on the City's website, social media feeds, CityTV (Somerville), and via information shared with local media.
- The Somerville Teen Shoveling program, a paid program for young adults to shovel out seniors and homeowners with disabilities after a snowstorm, is accepting applications. You must be registered with the program prior to a storm beginning.
