Dear Parents,
On April 15, I began my first week as the newly appointed interim director of schools. While it’s a short week, it’s been full of opportunity to learn from and meet with people who care about public education. I extend my thanks to the Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education for the opportunity and to the committed MNPS employees helping to make this transition as smooth as possible.
I am honored and excited to lead MNPS – an organization I have supported, loved and dedicated my professional career to for more than 15 years. As interim director, I want to thank you for your support of the school district and for your commitment to your children. I realize that the past few months have been challenging, but MNPS is an organization filled with committed professionals. We have a strong, capable team. Our administrators, teachers, bus drivers, and other dedicated employees are here and ready to serve your children. Our primary goal is always to provide them with a quality education in a safe environment.
Spring is in the air, and things get really busy in Metro Nashville Public Schools during this time of year. Along with testing, there will be many milestones to celebrate – the end of a successful kindergarten year, a transition from middle to high school, awards programs, musical concerts or one of the most inspiring: the graduation of high school seniors.
As a former MNPS student and proud graduate of John Overton High School, I fondly remember those milestones. I want that same experience for every single student and family we serve.
I hope you enjoy the wonderful celebrations ahead. Best wishes to you all and thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Adrienne Battle
Interim Director of Schools
