As we approach the halfway point for PDX Next, our project to make the airport bigger and better, we can confidently predict: 2022 will be all about the roof.
You’ve probably heard about the main terminal’s wood roof, which we’ve been building on a prefabrication lot next to the airport. Maybe you’ve seen the architectural drawings or the videos, or spotted its curves in the distance as you’ve driven past.
This year, we’ll finally move the roof into place — not that you’ll notice, we hope, as you’re walking to your gate. That's because the work will largely take place behind temporary walls or late at night. By the end of the year, you’ll be able to get a sense of how open and spacious the main terminal will soon be.
