SHOW YOUR HEART SOME LOVE THIS FEBRUARY
Love is in the air and so is Heart Health Month—the perfect time to show your heart some extra care! Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S., but the good news is that small, smart choices can make a big difference in keeping your heart strong.
Start with your plate—load up on colorful fruits and veggies, swap white bread for whole grains and choose lean proteins like beans, nuts and seafood. Cook with heart-healthy oils like olive or avocado instead of butter and skip the salty, processed snacks. Your routine matters too—try to move your body for 20 minutes daily, ditch the cigarettes and stay on top of health checks like blood pressure and cholesterol.
And since Valentine’s Day is all about the heart, why not gift a fruit basket instead of chocolates? A sweet (and healthy) way to show your love!
