Alaska Airlines Team Proves Working Together is the Ticket to Outstanding Customer Service
Alaska Airlines team members Stacy Hope (she/her), Lisa Murawski (she/her), Cindy Reeder (she/her) were nominated by Junior with ABM:
"I was near the Alaska ticket counters when I noticed a person on the ground having a medical emergency. Lisa, Cindy and Stacy from Alaska were quick to come and help. These agents were on the floor with the individual, kept them calm, provided ice packs and other first aid assistance.
They stayed with the passenger until medics arrived and gave an all clear. After medics were done, these agents still went above and beyond. They got the person a wheelchair and took them all the way through the gates so they could make their flight!
It made me proud to work at PDX, knowing we have such amazing people. Those 'Alaska Angels' stopped what they were doing to help. I imagine this traveler could have been someone like my mom and I would have loved for her to get that same level of support."

Events at PDX This Week
Celebrate Lunar New Year at PDX: On Thursday, Jan. 30, join in the celebration of Lunar New Year at PDX! Once again, we'll welcome the talented White Lotus group, who will perform a lion dance in the pre-security garden area of the new main terminal. The lion dance is a cultural performance, traditionally used to scare away evil spirits and bring prosperity and good luck. Today, it's a fun and entertaining performing art and sport that still holds true to tradition and culture for generations past. Everyone who attends will also receive traditional red envelopes filled with chocolate coins!
PDX Airport Artist Celebration: Also on Thursday, Jan. 30, we're hosting a celebration of the artists whose works are currently featured pre-security in the new main terminal: Younhee Choi, dotdotdash, Half Sister Studio, Brad Johnson, Ivan McClellan and Rebeca Mendez. Head to the new PDX Art Gallery on the north mezzanine level for refreshments and light fare; each of the artists will share a few words starting at 6:30 p.m.

Travel + Leisure: TSA Just Announced When Travelers Will Need a Real ID to Fly...and It's Serious This Time
The Transportation Security Administration has confirmed an official deadline for the Real ID requirement, which will soon be mandatory for travelers to navigate airport security within the U.S: May 7, 2025. Although the deadline will take effect in a few months, the Department of Homeland Security will implement a phased transition, with full enforcement set to start on May 5, 2027. Travelers can still use other forms of identification for air travel, including a passport or DHS trusted traveler card (Global Entry, Nexus, Sentri or Fast). Take a moment to read about Real ID requirements for Oregon and Washington now.

Step Into the Magic of ShadowMachine
Walking through PDX’s new Concourse Connector? The eye-catching displays from Portland-based ShadowMachine are worth a closer look. The north side display features puppets and sets from Pinocchio, offering a peek into the award-winning film’s intricate artistry. On the south side, discover characters from Tiny Chef, In the Know, and Booksmart, alongside behind-the-scenes footage showcasing ShadowMachine’s talented team.
