Mark Bargeron's Fast Action
has a Big Impact |
|
|
Mark Bargeron with Southwest Airlines was nominated by a PDX traveler.
"When a woman choked on some food, Southwest employee Mark Bargeron – with help from another traveler – jumped into action to render aid. They attended to the person in distress and called emergency paramedics. By the time I arrived, the person was talking and breathing normally.
The immediate action taken by Mark and his counterparts was critical to helping this woman. On behalf of the Airport Operations team, thank you for having such an amazing group of people, and thanks to Mark in particular."

On Wednesday morning, we celebrated four inaugural nonstop flights departing PDX for new Alaska destinations: Philadelphia International Airport, Baltimore/Washington International Airport, St. Louis Lambert International Airport, and Idaho Falls Regional Airport. The Alaska Airlines Group marked the moment with balloons, banners, and gift bags with treats for travelers,

Have you taken a ride on our new escalators yet? We recently opened brand new baggage claim escalators on the south side of the terminal (the north set opens in mid-June), as we get closer to achieving the perfect airport flow.
Reporter Jamie Hale called out the "beautifully designed with circular portals of wooden beams, which echo the design in the airport’s iconic wooden ceiling," while noting the

Nathan Lethgo, with the Port of Portland, shared photos and this caption about a recent Honor Flight.
"We were honored to welcome 26 veterans from Honor Flight of Northwest Oregon as they traveled through PDX – including three World War II veterans.
Please join us in celebrating these remarkable individuals and recognizing their extraordinary service and sacrifice. Their visit through our airport is a powerful reminder of the courage, commitment, and resilience of those who have served our nation.

On a special note, one of the 100-year-old WWII veterans worked at PDX as an electrician in the early 1950's and hasn't been back since. He was absolutely mesmerized by our beautiful new terminal!"
Curious what some of these special passengers had to say? KOIN 6 came out to PDX and talked with some of the veterans.
