Dear SCL Staff,Â
I want to express my gratitude to each of you who volunteered and supported Slope Day and the Dead & Co. concert. It takes a huge team to make these events successful and your participation was critical to making them enjoyable (and safe!) experiences. While this is a busy time of year for everyone, if you are able, I hope you’ll join us to support the remaining celebratory events coming up: Commencement, Senior Days, and Reunions.
I’m very excited to share that the SCL Advisory Committee is nearing completion of defining our divisional values and identifying the priorities we will focus on over the course of the next few years. Please keep an eye out early in June for more information about this and how we will launch planning and implementation across SCL.
In the newsletter below, read about recent staffing updates and news from around the division – including a new section that spotlights our outstanding staff. Take a look at upcoming events and opportunities to connect, review reminders from our HR team, view resources to support students, and enjoy the many SCL accomplishments and student stories linked below. This has been an impressive year filled with many accomplishments to celebrate, and I’m proud to work alongside such a creative and dedicated team.
Thank you!Â
Sincerely, Â Ryan

Cornell Health's Catherine Thrasher-Carroll to retire June 15  Since 2005, Catherine Thrasher-Carroll has worked closely with the CAPS Community-Based Services team and key stakeholders across Cornell to assess campus needs for mental health-related programming and systems-level change. She has played key roles in the development of the Notice & Respond bystander intervention program, Friend 2 Friend, Thrive (don’t just survive) at Cornell, and Cornell’s comprehensive public health framework for student mental health, a model that led directly to the recent campus adoption of the Okanagan Charter. Congratulations, Catherine!

Cornell Health's Dr. Jada Hamilton featured on PBS Â
Jada Hamilton, MD, Director of Medical Services at Cornell Health, and Herb Alexander, Chief Diversity Officer at Cayuga Health Systems, participated with other regional leaders in a new PBS “Cycle of Health” conversation entitled “Diversity in Medicine” which aired May 4 on WCNY PBS. The PBS conversation references local efforts to produce a new video “Achieving Health Equity Together,” which features a wider panel of local voices discussing the topic of health equity.Â

Kristi Coffelt, Assistant Director for Clinical Administrative Support
We asked you to share stories of outstanding team members across the division and you were up for the task, SCL. Keep an eye here each month as we will share more of the tremendous work of our teams.
Kristi Coffelt's colleagues shared: Kristi is always striving to make Cornell Health a better place to work and a great experience for students. She creates a collaborative culture between the various teams and departments at Cornell Health and that Kristi always exhibits kindness, even in difficult situations. Kristi is forward-thinking and works hard to encourage excellence in our team’s work, she seeks to offer a place of belonging for all and actively promotes a fun environment encouraging all team members to be their best selves.
