The Seattle band Versing is composed of four alumni who met working at KUPS. After signing to Sub Pop sister label Hardly Art, they’re releasing a new album in May.

Welcome, Wendy!

The Office of Finance has a new accounts payable manager. Wendy Vu was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and grew up in Orlando, Fla., before moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2004. She previously worked at Tacoma Community College and Pierce College, and she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

DID YOU KNOW? The coconut got its name from European explorers who called it “coco,” which means hobgoblin, because the three dots on the shell made it look like a spooky face.

Found Paper, Scissors
Mita Mahato, associate professor of English, is a comic artist redefining the genre by combining papermaking and poetry to tell stories of loss. Her most recent work, “Lullaby,” is about the plight of the disappearing Pacific Northwest orcas. She created the collage series with newspaper clippings.
