SPECIAL Stronger Together Mask Mandate Update – 2/9/22
As you may have heard, in a press conference this morning Governor Hochul announced that New York State was lifting the mandate for business owners to require indoor masking as of tomorrow (Thursday, February 10).
Please note that until further notice, Stony Brook University’s COVID-19 Pandemic Health and Safety Policy remains in effect and unchanged – which includes the requirement to use indoor facial coverings as follows:
All faculty, staff, students and visitors must continue to wear face coverings while inside all University and Hospital buildings – regardless of their vaccination status.
This includes classrooms, hallways, libraries and other common spaces, as well as on SBU buses and shuttles.
The mandate also applies to the Health Sciences and Basic Sciences Towers, offices in Flowerfield, Tech Park, Ronkonkoma and Commack locations, and administrative areas within outpatient facilities and physician practices.
Face coverings are not required inside personal rooms of residence halls/apartments, while eating/drinking, and within individual office spaces (e.g., cubicle or office) or in non-public-facing personal workstations.
We will continuously monitor, reassess and adapt to changing data and guidance, keeping you informed as conditions evolve.
