Here's everything you need to know about Financial Aid for summer!

Are you ready for summer 2025?

With summer session coming up, we wanted to send a friendly reminder about how financial aid works during the summer session!

You are receiving this email because you either enrolled at Cypress College in spring 2025 or have applied to attend Cypress College for summer 2025.
Please disregard this email if you do not plan to attend Cypress College during summer 2025.

Where's my summer CCPG?
The California College Promise Grant (CCPG) fee waiver works a bit differently during the summer session in regards to timing:

Your CCPG will post and waive your enrollment fees within 48 hours after registering for any summer course IF you are eligible to receive the award.

Please note that students will not be dropped for nonpayment. A hold will be placed on a student's account until the balance is paid off, but will not be dropped from their courses.

The CCPG only covers enrollment fees. Log in to your myGateway account after the CCPG posts to pay your remaining balance online.

How will I know if I qualify for Pell Grant for summer?
Summer Pell Grant eligibility depends on a few factors: SAP, summer enrollment, and SAI.
  • Students will receive their Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status notice via email prior to the start of the summer session.
  • Student must enroll in at least 6 units to qualify for additional Pell Grant during summer 2025.
    Freeze date June 9, 2025 and Pell Grant Disbursement on June 13, 2025.
    Disbursements
    If you've been awarded a Pell Grant, you'll receive it on Friday, June 13*.
    For more disbursement information, including the summer 2025 disbursement schedule, FAQ, and BankMobile, please visit our Disbursement help page.
    Please note that disbursements typically arrive on Friday evenings, and if transferring to your bank account it may take an additional 1-2 business days.
    *In order to be paid on the first disbursement date, the following must be met by May 28:
    • Your financial aid file must be complete;
    • Your home campus must be Cypress College;
    • Your SAP status must be Good, Warning, or Pro1;
    • You must be enrolled in summer 2025 courses; and
    • Your summer course must start at the beginning of summer session.
    What might affect your disbursement dates:
    • Completing tasks late. After May 28, your Pell Grant funds should arrive to BankMobile three Fridays after you complete your file.
    • Enrolling in late-start classes. Late-start classes can affect the amount you receive in your first disbursement, or may delay your full disbursement as we cannot pay for late-start units until you start attending those classes. If you have a late-start class, you would receive your Pell Grant two Fridays after your class starts.
    • You need to submit a SAP appeal. If your SAP appeal is approved, you'll receive your financial aid funds two Fridays after your appeal is approved.

    Balancing your school work & personal life

    We encourage you to consider only taking the amount of units that you believe you can successfully complete during the summer session — and also still be able to relax and enjoy your summer!

    If this will be your first time taking a summer class, consider taking just one class at a time as the summer session moves at a much faster pace than fall and spring. Oftentimes, students who enroll in more than one class per session feel overwhelmed midway through. If you're unsure, you can meet with an academic counselor to discuss your options and help figure out what may work best for you.

    Has your (or your parent's) income significantly decreased since 2022?

    If your or your parent's income has significantly decreased since 2022 (the income you entered on your FAFSA/CADAA), you may request an SAI Appeal to use your more recent income.
