Charting Deerfield's Future: Community Engagement at the Open House |
About 100 residents gathered earlier this month to help the City of Milton shape the future of the Deerfield area. Held at Stonecreek Church, the “Open House” was a hands-on opportunity for attendees to engage in thoughtful discussions, share ideas and actively contribute to the vision for southeastern Milton.
Participants rotated between various stations where they could vote on architectural styles, provide input on parks and open spaces and map out their common routes using string. Additionally, community members shared their hopes for what they would love to see in their ideal Deerfield. City project team members, including representatives from multiple Milton departments and Cooper Carry, were on hand to listen, gather feedback and interact with the public.
This input will shape the Deerfield Design Manual and the Deerfield Implementation Plan, ensuring that developers consider the community’s preferences for the future. For more information and to provide feedback, visit www.miltonga.gov/Deerfield.

Roswell Unveils Veteran-Only Motorcycle Parking on Canton Street |
On September 18, Roswell city officials and Georgia Senator John Albers gathered to unveil several veteran-only motorcycle parking spots off Canton Street, marking an important gesture of gratitude to local veterans. The parking spots, located across from 1920 Tavern, were reinstated earlier this week.
"Reserving special motorcycle parking for those who have served is just a small gesture, but it’s one way we can show our deep gratitude for all they’ve done to protect our freedom and our country,” Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson stated.
The reinstated parking represents Roswell’s ongoing commitment to honoring its veterans while balancing the city's efforts to become more walkable.

Alpharetta Expands Its Downtown Charm |
Nearly 40 colorful Adirondack chairs now adorn the Town Green and surrounding areas, thanks to the efforts of Morgan Rodgers, director of Alpharetta’s Recreation, Parks & Culture Department. His vision is to make downtown not just a place to explore on foot, but a welcoming space to sit, relax and enjoy the scenery.
“It has really made Town Green a fun place to be,” said Rodgers, who was inspired to add the chairs after spending an afternoon in downtown Alpharetta with his wife. While benches serve their purpose, the couple realized that something more was needed.
City staff carefully return the chairs to their original spots each morning, a sure sign they’re being used and enjoyed. The Rotary Club of Alpharetta has already partnered with the city to help expand the chair collection, but there are plans to add more.
“We made Alpharetta walkable,” Rodgers said. “Now, we want to make it sittable.”
