Spark of STEM!

This amazing teacher uses a unique experiment for her lessons on the carbon cycle! Your Spark of STEM for the week is a demo that shows how carbon dioxide is denser than the surrounding air. Becca has her students read an article about Lake Nyos, a volcanic lake that overturned and released dissolved CO2, to expand on this lesson.

Becca is the creator of @sciencethatrocks, a blog dedicated to science teaching tips and resources that have all been tested in her classroom. Are you a secondary science teacher looking for engaging lesson ideas? Insightful classroom tips from a veteran teacher?  Lab how-to's? Then check out @sciencethatrocks
