Your Help Matters

Throughout this COVID-19 pandemic, we have all experienced a feeling of unknown for the future. For Jonie, a client in our Scattered-Site Housing Program, that feeling is very real, as she is pregnant with her first child. Jonie recently left her abusive husband and is working toward independence and self-suffiency within our program. However, once the crisis hit, Jonie was unsure how she was going to be able to prepare for the arrival of her child. With help from generous community members like you, our Scattered-Site Housing Coordinator was able to deliver many items to Jonie, including a new stroller, carseat, diapers, toys and much more.

It's because of the generosity of many in our community that women are being equipped with the tools that they need to succeed; both emotionally and physically. Your help matters.

Standing Against Racism Together

Stand Against Racism went digital this year! Stand Against Racism is an annual campaign, coordinated by YWCA USA, meant to bring communities together around a specific topic or theme.
The theme for 2020 was promoting civic engagement and bringing awareness to the barriers that communities of color experience. In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the theme for Stand Against Racism pivoted to also supporting our Asain American and Pacific Islander neighbors who are experiencing bias and racism due to the virus.
We are thankful for our East Tennessee community who stood with us, took the pledge, and encouraged our community to complete the 2020 Census.

Thank You, UTK Social Work Interns!

"Over the last two years, I had an
invaluable learning experience at YWCA in the Keys of Hope Women's Program. I had the opportunity to learn and practice advanced clinical skills as well as learning different aspects of program management."

-Victoria Haddah, MSW
"While interning for the Freedom Inside program, some main takeaways were learning how to effectively navigate the criminal justice system to ensure clients needs are met, helping clients reintegrate back into society after being incarcerated, and I gained a better understanding about the impact of incarceration, trauma, and substance abuse."
