Protecting Our Mission: Why Device Care ND is Our New Standard |
Device Care ND is Notre Dame’s new standard for keeping our devices secure, stable, and easier to live with. In her full blog post, Jane Livingston explains why one-off fixes are no longer enough, and how quieter security tools, clearer communication and more consistent updates will reduce day-to-day disruptions as OIT begins conversations with the entire Notre Dame community.

Powerful New Gemini Tools Available Now! |
Faculty and staff now have access to Gemini for Workspaces directly within Google Docs and Slides, plus the powerful new Gemini Workspace Studio for automating daily workflows. All features are covered under Notre Dame's enterprise data protection agreement, so you can work securely with your Drive and email content.

- Bobbi Stebbins will demonstrate additions to the BA CoP website.
- Chinska Wittich will discuss her progress on creating a University-wide system context diagram and demonstrate a layered approach that connects a big-picture view to more detailed system context diagrams.
- This is a practical look at how to document and communicate complex system relationships without losing clarity.
- John Hartman will share information about his use of AI to research and evaluate low-cost/no-cost performance testing tools.

| Control whether users can request to join a space |
We are introducing a new setting in Google Chat that allows space owners and managers to control whether users can request to join a space.
Previously, if someone received a link to a space that required permission for them to join, they could send a request to space owners and managers. With this new feature, space owners and managers can now further restrict access by disabling the "request to join" option. If users try to access a space via a link, they will no longer be able to request to join.

Set Google Forms to automatically stop accepting responses based on date and time or response count
|
Google has launched a new feature to enable form owners and editors to set a specific date and time to close the form, or set a certain number of responses that will trigger the form to close automatically. This feature is designed to streamline the form closure process, offering form creators more control over data collection. It is beneficial for many form types, including registration, event planning, and research forms.
