Tallahassee Stands Out Among Metro Areas with Below-Average Cost of Living in Q3
For Q3 2024, the Tallahassee urban area had an overall composite Cost of Living Index of 92.7%, or 7.3% below the average cost of living for all 252 participating urban areas, according to the Cost of Living Index released by the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER). The Cost of Living Index (COLI) is released by C2ER to measure regional differences in the cost of consumer goods and services (like grocery items, healthcare, and housing), excluding taxes and non-consumer expenditures, for professional and managerial households in the top 20% of income.
| |
The index is based on more than 90,000 prices covering 60 different items for which prices are collected three times a year. This research tool allows OEV to make accurate cost-of-living comparisons between Tallahassee-Leon County and other COLI-participating urban areas across the United States.
