Dear International Community,
We know this has been a challenging semester for all, with rising coronavirus cases, quarantines, shifting regulations, unexpected travel or lack thereof, and all that 2020 has thrown at us. However, through it all, the grit and resilience of our international community has shone through.
So from the entire ISSS team, THANK YOU to all the international students and scholars who are part of the Miami University community.

Preparing for Spring Study

Some tips and reminders as you prepare for Spring 2021:
  • Registration is open for spring semester for all students. If you have not yet registered, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible! If you have questions about what courses to take, please consult with your academic advisor.

  • Spring semester is scheduled to begin on January 25 as planned, and Miami is offering a combination of face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.

  • All students must confirm their spring semester attendance option with Miami University by January 15.

  • The US government has not yet issued guidance regarding enrollment requirements for spring semester. Students who plan to be in the US are encouraged to enroll in at least some in-person or hybrid coursework in case this is required by the government. We will notify students via email as soon as we have updated information

  • Students who plan to be outside the US should enroll only in online courses if they wish to receive the $2000 credit (for Oxford campus only). We do not yet know if students will be able to maintain F-1 status while enrolled in online courses from outside the US. We will notify students via email once we have updated information from the government.

  • All students should check their email regularly during the winter break. We realize it is challenging for some students to check their Miami email while abroad, but we strongly encourage you to find a way to check it at least once/week.

  • In January, all international students will be required to submit the “Spring 2021 Study Plan Confirmation” e-form through InterLink notifying our office of your study plans and location. Watch for information about this via email in early January.

Review the ISSS website for more information about studying and maintaining status in Spring 2021 in light of COVID-19. We will continue to update this page as needed.
