I am thrilled to announce that Peter Howell, the interim head of the Conservation Finance Network since early June, has shed the "interim" from his title and become CFN's permanent Executive Director. He brings to the position deep expertise in conservation, philanthropy and finance and the vision and skills to guide CFN in the future.

While all eyes are now on the UN Climate Change Conference in Dubai, there's been no pause in the focus of conservation leaders here in the US on the issue. Earlier this month, practitioners up and down the East Coast explored how to scale their efforts to counter climate change while incorporating justice and equity in their work earlier this month. In both the Chesapeake and New England, leaders gathered for their 14th annual regional meetings. Both sessions had an added urgency given the accelerating climate and biodiversity crisis and historic levels of federal funding. In the Chesapeake, some 60 practitioners took stock of tremendous progress in reaching the region’s 30x30 goals but acknowledged the challenges of supporting durable, community-center conservation. And in New England, birthplace of the Regional Conservation Partnership (RCPs), it was an opportunity for the some 100 attendees to reflect, recharge and commit to partnerships with new stakeholders toward common goals. We highlight below some tools discussed and look forward to helping to advancing promising financing practices in both regions.
On a sad note, we are sorry to say goodbye to Julia Mettler-Grove, our Program and Operations Manager, who is leaving CFN to work for a community development corporation in Cleveland, Ohio. Julia kept the trains running on time here and so much more, and we wish her the absolute best! We're hiring for a Project & Operations Coordinator to fill her place, please share out to your networks!
