Nominate Students for the Leadership Council
|

Do you know students interested in influencing the future of the NSDA? Nominate them for the Student Leadership Council by March 1! The new Student Leadership Council (SLC) will be composed of current high school student members of the National Speech & Debate Association graduating in or after 2024. Members will provide feedback and recommendations throughout the year to ensure we are meeting students’ needs. Each district, country, or U.S. territory has the opportunity to nominate one member student for consideration.

Register for January Scrimmages
|
There are two more Springboard Scrimmages available in January—register now for events on Thursday, January 19 or Thursday, January 26. Round 1 for all scrimmages begins at 6:00 p.m. CT. The deadline to register is 12:00 p.m. CT the day of the scrimmage. Download a printable schedule to share with your students and make plans for the rest of the year.

| Nominate a Coach for Hall of Fame
|
The highest honor for any high school speech and debate coach is election to the NSDA Hall of Fame. Each year, we seek nominations from member coaches like you! Individuals with 25 years of NSDA coach membership prior to the start of Nationals (e.g., a merit date of June 11, 1998, or earlier), or who are retired from coaching and teaching, are eligible.

$100 Student Scholarship Available for National Congress Legislation
|
Any high school NSDA member student, regardless of their national qualification status, may directly submit legislation to be considered for the 2023 National Tournament Docket! Students can even submit multiple pieces of legislation for consideration. If their legislation is selected to be part of the Nationals Docket, they will be recognized in Rostrum, receive a trophy after the tournament, and be awarded a $100 scholarship. This is a great way for students to boost their resumes and be recognized for their research and writing skills! Encourage students to submit legislation by February 5.

Mark Your Calendar for Middle School Nationals
|
The Middle School National Tournament returns in person alongside the high school event this year in Phoenix/Mesa! In-person registration will be in the evening on Tuesday, June 13 and competition will run Wednesday through Friday. Hotel information will be available February 1 and Tabroom.com registration opens March 15. Schools and students must be NSDA members to register.
