Stories from the Stage

We are consistently blown away by the passion, dedication, and heart behind each of the stories shared on the final round stage. In the video below, finalists JJ Kapur and Connor Sears explain what it meant to them to share their messages with more than 60,000 people during #Nats17.

Keynote Speakers for the National Conference

We are excited to announce our keynote speakers for this year’s annual NSDA Conference. Josh Gad and LaToya Green will headline an amazing list of more than 50 presenters to deliver a wide range of professional development and leadership sessions supporting our theme of Radiant Voices: Empowerment through Speech and Debate.

The event will be held July 28-31 in Phoenix at the Hilton Pointe Tapatio Cliffs Resort. For further information, check out our conference brochure. If you’re a leader, coach, or teacher in the speech and debate community, this conference has something for you!

Submit LD and PF Topic Ideas

If you have suggestions for PF and LD debate topics for the 2018-2019 school year, we want to hear them! You can access the online submission forms on our Topics page.

National Tournament T-Shirt Orders

It's not too late to pre-order your #Nats18 shirts! Reserve yours today for pick up during registration at Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The deadline to order shirts is May 25.

To place your order, log in to Tabroom, visit your National Touranment registration, and click the "Concessions" tab to select sizes and quantities for T-shirts.

Judge Obligations

All judges must be available for rounds Monday through Thursday, including main event AND supplemental/consolation rounds. Please be sure to tell your judges that they may be judging a variety of events at Nationals and to prepare accordingly. Links to our competition events guides and other helpful resources are available under the judging filter of our Resource page.

Updates + Reminders

Corrected Congress Legislation » There were two minor typos in P-10 and P-21 of the National Congress Docket for High School. These changes did not impact the substance of the legislation. The updated docket can be found at www.speechanddebate.org/topics.

Entry Relinquishments » The entry deadline for qualifiers was May 1, but you may still drop a student if you are willing to forfeit the entry fee. For detailed instructions, click here. Please take care of all drops ASAP to allow other teams to fill in before the alternate registration deadline of May 25.

Rostrum Survey » Please take a few minutes to provide feedback and suggestions for Rostrum magazine. If you complete the survey by tomorrow, May 15, you will be entered to win a FREE Words Matter sweatshirt from the NSDA.

Transportation Reminder » There is no transportation provided between hotels and competition venues. All competitors and coaches are responsible for meeting their own transportation needs throughout the tournament. If you're booking a rental car, Hertz is offering special rates for NSDA members!
