July 4, or Independence Day, celebrated the passage of the United States Declaration of Independence in 1776, marking the birth of the nation. The first draft was proposed by John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. All over the United States there are celebrations in honor of this historic moment in our nation's history.
