Double your impact - Donate Now to our Together We Thrive Campaign! |
There’s something magical about people working together toward a shared goal. At NALC, we see it every day—teachers, tutors, and learners unlocking new possibilities, one "aha" moment at a time. Whether it’s mastering a new word, reading a first book, or becoming the first in a family to attend college, literacy opens doors.
|
And today, you can help even more learners thrive.
|
We’re excited to invite you to our Together We Thrive campaign—a movement to raise $25,000 and unlock matching funds from the Tynewald Foundation. That means every dollar you give will be doubled, doubling your impact for adult learners in Nashville.
|
Together, we've already made a powerful impact this fiscal year:
- 426 adult literacy learners are currently enrolled in our programming.
- 929 goals personal or academic goals achieved by learners.
- Onboarded 49 new volunteer tutors.
|
These accomplishments wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, donors, and community partners. Thank you. |
Together, we can build a brighter future—one word, one learner, one connection at a time.

Nermen is from Egypt and has been studying at NALC since 2022. She and Laura have been meeting weekly on Zoom for almost a year to practice English. With Laura’s help, Nermen has read the book Gandhi, learned many new words, and improved her ability to understand her children. Her long-term goal is to return to college to study computer science.
Laura was inspired to become a tutor after hearing about a friend’s experience. When asked about tutoring, she said, “I love working with Nermen and cherish getting to know her and learning about her life in Egypt and the U.S. Her passion for learning inspires me.”
Great work Nerman and Laura!
