Congratulations Class of 2015

The Class of 2015 and their friends and relatives packed the upper school quad for Commencement on Friday, May 29th. The largest graduating class in school history at 67, they fulfilled the measure of one of their classmate’s insights: “The perfect story prepares the soul for mystery.”
Across their time at Prep, this year’s graduates have put us in a posture of anticipation and wonder. They have not been perfect in everything they have embraced across their years at Prep...but that would not make for a perfect story. They have been, instead, authentic and flawed, aspiring and loud. By all measures, they have been larger-than-life. Best wishes moving forward, and thank you.

FUNDRAISING UPDATE

Where We Are And What's Next

Right now, our annual sustaining fund feels like almond butter: so nutritious, so important for our school, so delicious, really, when you see its benefits…but sometimes sticky and hard to swallow.

As this school and fiscal year come to a close, and you look at the incredible growth of your child, or grandchild, or graduate thanks to a Prep education, please click here and make a donation of any size to our school and our kids (think of honey if you’re allergic to nuts). The faculty and staff have done it, the Board has done it, and now we need you, too$50,700 more to go for the growth of our kids. Thank you.
BLUE GRIFFIN FAN NEWS

What a great year and spring season for Griffin Athletics!

The Girls Lacrosse Team won their 4th consecutive State Championship with a 19-9 victory over Rio Rancho. The Boys joined them as repeat State Champs with a 14-7 victory over Los Alamos.

The Boys Tennis Team tied for 3rd and Sophie Bennett '18 and Samantha Whitegeese '16 took 2nd in the state doubles competition.

Baseball also capped their season with a strong showing in the State Tournament against the heavily favored Eunice Cardinals. Although they lost the game, they moved the program forward with a state berth.
Track & Field finished the small school state meet at UNM with an amazing State Championship earned by the Blue Griffin Girls Team and a 5th place finish for the Boys Team. There were many individual highlights, including Courtney Rose Timlen '15 winning the 300 meter hurdles and placing 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles. On the Boys side, congratulations to Ian Andersson '15 who finished first in the high jump and Patrick Boyd '17 who was 3rd in the 100 meter sprint. The success of the whole team for achieving the title came down to the strength of its relay teams, as evidenced by the 2nd place finish in the 800 meter relay and the finalé of winning the 1600 meter relay.

This caps a year where we won 4 State Championships...way to go Blue Griffins!
THANK YOU TO OUR EXTRAORDINARY PA
We send a massive thank you to each and every parent at Prep, all of whom are members of the Parents’ Association. Throughout the year you volunteered for events, helped with our community service programs, connected us, and helped raise close to $60,000 for our school and our kids. Your time and donations have an immeasurable impact on the success of the education we provide. We just met with the PA Executive Committee, who decided the funds you raised will be used in the following ways:

•    $32,000 for Tuition Assistance
•    $10,000 for Breakthrough Santa Fe
•    $6,000 for Technology Upgrades
(this is part of $140,000 we spent on improving technology this year)
•    $11,000 for a Prep van to safely transport our kids.

Leading the success of the PA this year were Executive Committee Members President Margaret Hennessey (who baked for our meetings all year and Co-Chaired Dancing with the Santa Fe Stars), Vice President Julie Murray, Secretary Mitch Koolpe, and Treasurer Chriss O’Neill—thank you all for your phenomenal commitment.

We would also like to thank Christine Lehman for her fantastic work as Dancing with the Santa Fe Stars Co-Chair, Krista Tyra for creating an unforgettable Prom 2015, Jill Gerber for leading the largest Rummage Sale in Prep’s history, and Michelle Barliant and Chewy Borden for organizing Graduation

Finally we thank our Grade Level Reps for uniting our community, grade by grade. Looking forward to working with you all next year!
