Our New Sensor Fish Will Help Your Dam be More Fish Friendly.
Earlier this year, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory issued a press release detailing how "hundreds of surrogate 'fish' will be put to work at dams around the world through an agreement between ATS - Advanced Telemetry Systems - and the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to improve operations and increase sustainability."
ATS is proud to have been chosen by PNNL to be part of their elite team, and to be able to offer ATS customers this unique product. The Sensor Fish will be of great value to dam owners and operators throughout the world, since many dams must be evaluated by regulators through their lifetime. An important part of the evaluation examines how well fish are able to withstand passage through the dam. PNNL and ATS' solution is the ARC800 Sensor Fish.
The Sensor Fish is a small autonomous device that analyzes the physical conditions fish experience as they pass through dams and other hydro structures. This synthetic “fish” is helping existing hydroelectric dams, as well as new and smaller hydro facilities become more fish-friendly.
The "fishes" on-board sensors include temperature, pressure, acceleration, and a gyroscope. These sensors are used to measure stresses that would be placed on small fish as they pass through the dam.

We've also been shipping a Shore-based Acoustic Receiver, model SR3017, which includes a cabled hydrophone, freeing the operator from having to retrieve submerged equipment in order to collect data and change batteries. H20 Acoustics' line of acoustic tracking equipment will meet your requirements in both large-scale marine environments, and in smaller scale lakes and reservoirs.
