District Coach, Student, and Admin Awards

Nominations are open for all of our district to national awards! Each winner of the following district awards is automatically entered into the running for the national-level award when reported by your district chair. District deadlines vary, so be sure to check with your local leadership about when nominations are due. District chairs must report district winners to us by April 16 for national award consideration!

Plan to Celebrate Black History Month

February is right around the corner! As you plan to celebrate with your team or in your classroom, check out our Black History Month page, including a poster series featuring alumni and coaches. Print and hang our posters or use our template to make your own featuring past or current members of your team! Celebrate the month personally by carving out the time to take our NSDA Learn course Engaging and Mentoring Black/African American Students. Your intentional recruitment and mentoring matters!  
 Speech and debate taught me courage, generosity, and an understanding that diversity makes us strong. Our voices are what connect us, and this activity allows me to spread that message. Announcing the 2021-2022 Policy Debate Topic

Register for the Harvard Tournament's Spanish Policy Debate Division

The Harvard National Forensics Tournament is hosting a Spanish Policy Debate division on February 13-14! You can explore a variety of resources including training videos, starter cases, and translated informational documents. Questions? Please email Roger Nix and Luz Miranda.

Introducing Events to Middle School Students

Our middle school videos are a great way to introduce competitive events to younger students. They can see an example of excellence that's more accessible than high school final rounds! Middle School Nationals and Speech Challenge Showcase videos are available for members. 

Nominate Coaches for the 2021 Hall of Fame Class

We are currently accepting nominations for the Hall of Fame! Any NSDA coach may submit a nomination. Individuals with 25 years of NSDA coach membership prior to the start of the National Tournament (e.g., a merit date of June 13, 1996, or earlier), or who are retired from coaching and teaching, are eligible for this prestigious award. The nomination deadline is February 1

Earn Funds for Your Team with Big Questions Debate!

In Big Questions, students debate topics at the intersection of science, religion, and philosophy.
The 2020-2021 topic is, Resolved: Mathematics was discovered, not invented. You can earn up to $2,500 for your team when you apply and are approved to host an event at a tournament or against members of your own team. Online events are eligible. Almost $1.5 million has been awarded to programs since 2016.
