A publication of the National Speech & Debate Association

Dear Coach,

Congratulations! Your first day of the National Tournament is in the books. You survived! Now that you’ve navigated the tournament experience today, it should get much easier from this point forward.

As a reminder, first "breaks" occur after round 6. For those students who don't advance, you may wish to encourage them to observe rounds 7 and 8.
Coach Clinic Rescheduled
Extemp Squads and Digital Filing presented by Robert Sheard will now be held at Alta HS in Room 1705 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14.
Parking Reminder
Anyone parked in an illegal, administrative, or restricted area will be subject to ticketing from the city. Please double check that you are not parked in these areas.
Student Posting Party at the Gallivan Center
Tuesday night, you and your students are invited to our student posting party at the Gallivan Center. During this event, students who advanced to rounds 7 and 8 will find out if they advanced to round 9 on Wednesday. We will post each of the event breaks on monitors for all to view. Additionally, high school students who were either eliminated on Tuesday or do not advance to round 9 can re-register for supplemental events. Check the Nats16 Guidebook App or see page 54 of your tournament book for complete information.
Middle School Registration and Expo
On Tuesday, more than 900 middle school students will begin arriving in Salt Lake City. The registration and expo for Middle School Nationals is Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center (255 West Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84101) in Grand Ballroom C.
Download the Guidebook app on your device, then search for Nats16. See page 32 of the Tournament Book for more details!
