National Disability Independence Day commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26th, 1990. The ADA provides protection against employment discrimination and better access to goods, services, and communications for people with disabilities.

French-American Heritage Month honors the historical and cultural ties between the U.S. and France, coinciding with Bastille Day on July 14.

National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month is to bring awareness to the unique struggles regarding mental illness that racial and ethnic minority communities face in the United States.

Plastic Free July™ is a global movement for cleaner streets and oceans that challenges us to avoid single-use plastics for 30 days.

The Township of Nutley celebration is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, beginning at 6:00 pm at Franklin Avenue (between Chestnut and Church Street). Face painters, food trucks, magicians, and balloon artists will be in attendance. The fireworks are scheduled to start at dusk.

Clifton is hosting its Independence Day Fireworks and Carnival at Clifton Stadium (350 Piaget Avenue) from July 2 to July 4, celebrating America’s 250th birthday. The event features carnival rides, food vendors, live entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks show on the 4th.

Verona Fireworks & America 250 Celebration happens Wednesday, July 1 at 7 p.m. at Liberty Field. The festivities will feature a range of family-friendly activities that transport you back to 1776, including raffles, music, dancing, a Betsy Ross portrayer leading a flag-making activity, a town crier portrayer and more.

Cedar Grove Fireworks are on Thursday, July 2nd at 7 p.m. in Panther Park Field. There will be DJ-spun tunes, family fun, food for purchase, and fireworks at dusk.

Bloomfield Independence Day Celebration is Saturday, July 4. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. at Foley Field, Memorial Park, JFK Drive, Bloomfield. Family games, food trucks, live music by the Infernos, and a Firework Spectacular with special 250th Anniversary finale.

Summit's Annual Fourth of July Celebration happens Saturday, July 4 · 12 – 10 p.m. at Soldiers Memorial Field with Children’s Decorated Bicycle Parade, expanded Food Truck Festival, carnival rides, live concerts throughout the day, and 9:15 p.m. grand fireworks finale. Union Township’s Annual Fourth of July Spectacular is on Saturday, July 4 at 7:30 p.m.at Biertuempfel Park (Winslow Ave. & Vauxhall Rd.) followed by a fireworks display. Free admission, bring lawn chairs/blankets; multiple food vendors on site. Rain date July 5.

The West Caldwell celebration will take place on Saturday, July 4 at the James Caldwell High School Varsity Baseball Field, 265 Westville Avenue. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with live music, a bike decorating contest, family activities and food trucks. The fireworks begin at dark.

A Times Square Ball Drop, a rolling series of ball drops, timed to occur at midnight on July 3 in every U.S. time zone is part of the nearly 24-hour celebration of the 250th anniversary.
